14th April 2008 (Monday)

Today is a continuation from yesterday’s Jiang Tian Shi’s work - Tian Shi Fu (Jiang Tian Shi’s abode), and Da Shang Qing Gong (Palace of Utmost Clarity).

Tian Shi Fu is today a massive temple complex, with the original house of Spiritual Master Jiang at the far back of the compound. Upon arrival at the gates, we were once more greeted by a huge river (note the importance of natural water - Qi gathers along the lines of water). This one as the classics go, produces ‘fairies and Buddhas’, a sign of spiritual grounds. Not too far from this river, is an extremely tall Wood Star in a ‘Seated Deity Amidst the Clouds’ formation (and it does really resemble a man seated in meditation!). This further amplifies the spiritual prowess of this vicinity.

To top things off, Wood Stars are also found in the corresponding Fire directions. Now, we all know that Fire represents power and enlightenment, while Wood represents nobility, as well as growth and learning. Put these two forces together and you will find a spiritual powerhouse like this one. Perhaps the information board near the entrance tells it best: Disciples of Jiang Tian Shi became imperial advisors on stately spiritual matters; they were also officially appointed as the authority of Taoism.

Our next stop further up is the ‘Da Shang Qing Gong’, known for one infamous building - Jiang Tian Shi fought 108 evil spirits and imprisoned them in a well here. A house was built on the well, the doors were sealed shut with talismans. Subsequently, disciples of Jiang built a temple around the area, which was later frequented by the royal family.

As students of the Mastery Academy are not ghostbusters, we are more interested as to why Jiang Tian Shi chose this site to imprison the spirits. Indeed, it was no random location. From a vantage view higher up, we stood surrounded by a ‘Spiral City’, layers of mountain ranges wrapping around the site like a cabbage. The site itself qualifies as a ‘High Mountain Plum Blossom’ formation - this very special formation of hills ensures that Qi in this area is interlocked within itself. Natural Plum Blossom land formations also contains 3 natural Bright Halls leading to one another, fulfilling the ‘3 Division 3 Harmonious’ principle of sentimental Qi collection and distribution.

The well itself can be found near the heart of the Plum Blossom.

Our conclusion is this: Jiang Tian Shi used the natural configuration of the land to prevent the spirits from escaping - the Plum Blossom ‘prison’ was shaped like a hand to hold them in. Furthermore, the pure Qi from the hills focusing toward the centre might also purify/pacify the spirits, noted a few of our more spiritually-inclined students.

After lunch, we were off to the airport. Tonight, we are here in Gan Zhou, a bustling city compared to previous Jing De Zhen. Looking forward to what the next 3 days will bring us.
