Orientation : The Journey Begins!
Reported by Bernice Low

Mastery Academy students from all corners of the world began arriving late on Saturday night at the Nanjing Hilton hotel, the starting point for this year's Mastery Academy China Excursion trip.

Last year saw students of the academy's inaugural China Excursion trip following the Feng Shui trail of the Qing Dynasty, from Shen Yang in Liaoning Province, all the way to the Forbidden City in Beijing. This year, the students will be tracking the Feng Shui of the other formidable Chinese Empire, the Mings. And the journey begins in none other than Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, a place known as the capital city of 10 dynasties and the cradle of the Ming Empire. This year's Excursion will definitely be more lively as there are more than double the number of students Walking the Mountains with Joey this year.

Although formal class only began on the afternoon of Sunday, May 8th, students could be seen joking and having good fun (and enthralling Feng Shui and BaZi discussions) as early as breakfast time on Sunday. With everyone well rested by the time Joey's 3 o'clock lecture rolled around, everyone was eager and raring to go in class.

During the two hour lecture, Joey sought to help orientate the students who hadn't been on last year's China Excursion trip get familiar with the concepts of Meridian points and Dragons. It was straight into the key basics of Luan Tou or Landform Feng Shui from the word go as Joey recapped key concepts for students on Landform Feng Shui. Citing extensively the famous Ru Di Yan (Entering Earth Eye classics) during the class, students were given a informative but comprehensive class on the key principles of Luan Tou and Dragon Veins by Joey.

Joey told the students that they could form their own groups or teams and that they would be expected to learn how to 'swim' by being thrown into the deep end from day one. Students will be expected to undertake practical audits at all the sites to be visited on the Excursion and participate in the interactive sessions that have come to characterise the China Excursion.

Dinner followed the conclusion of the orientation lecture. It was a lively and fun occasion at a nearby high end restaurant, where the students dined on duck, rice, aubergines and two soup courses, while engaging in plenty of socialising, catching up and generally having a good time! Faces were put to familiar community names and the mood was enthusiastic, despite the 6.30am wake-up call the next morning!

Tomorrow the journey begins!
